Out of Rio

Nai-publish: 01.10.2018

As planned, I was able to tear myself away from the fascinating metropolis - somehow also glad that everything went without any incidents. The public opinion on safety in Rio is quite negative in Germany, especially after reading the guidelines of the foreign office, where I even registered (strongly recommended):

Before the bus station around 8 o'clock chaos in traffic. My favorite taxi driver Gerardo also managed this situation, but asked cautiously when my bus would leave - relief only in over 1 hour. Finally, when I had found the right ticket counter, I was immediately rebooked for the 8 o'clock bus - also okay. After we had left the morning traffic chaos behind us, it became idyllic: 4 hours to Paraty, praised as one of the most photogenic places in Brazil (quote from Lonely Planet South America), both the landscape on the way (it's so green, the jungle - just verde) and the destination are worth it. After all, there are almost 400 pousadas in this not so big but very touristy place - my selection criteria were probably not the right ones. I couldn't find the street because my data roaming didn't work. In Rio, this was no problem thanks to wifi. I hadn't had this problem in Europe yet (Lisbon). My non-existent Portuguese skills and the rarely existing English skills here exacerbated the problem. Taxis - no chance - there is a tourist office, but where...

The backpack is weighing me down. Finally, I arrived, sweating profusely. The owner of the 'pousade' had just gone to bed and took his time. After freshening up and resting for a round, I wanted to capture the picturesque atmosphere in daylight - but see for yourself!
