Curitiba - successful and eco-friendly

Nai-publish: 03.10.2018

Since the World Climate Conference in Rio, it should be known that Brazilians are very committed to environmental protection (not just deforestation). Curitiba, with its 1.8 million inhabitants (more than Munich), has a lot to offer: eco-city planning and construction, hybrid buses, university... However, few people in our country know about this city, and I was no different!

Upon arrival, what immediately caught my eye was: hey, there's still a train station with passenger trains - a rare sight in Brazil. Next to the bus terminal is the Serra Verde Express train station, which leads down to the coast. Curitiba is located at an altitude of 934m above sea level.

Today, the bus ride was quick, unlike yesterday, even with WiFi on board! Checked in quickly at the hotel, bought a ticket for the train, and extended the hotel stay right away. Of course, there's also a presidential election campaign going on here - big time! see photos.

Oh, and about Oktoberfest in Brazil: I saw a huge beer tent in Sao Paulo from the bus, and the beer is called 'Eisenbahn'. As I said, Brazilians like (cold) beer (ok, also other beverages), but Eisenbahn and beer go together - that's what I'm saying! everything is very likeable.
