Today weather forecast shows some clouds and a not too warm day, so perfect conditions for a longer and more strenuous walking day: we decided to do for the day the Nature Window Loop Walk, which is about 9km. At first walk to the Nature Window, then along the rim of the gorge, where you have lots of flies but still some wind blowing. The walk then descends down into the gorge over some rocks. In the gorge it is considerably hotter than on the rim and almost no wind. The walk brings you near the river where you can at first hear and later see different birds like black swans and pelicans. The walk along the water edge involves walking over rocks and also a bit climbing around more steep edges and rocks as well as to run around edges without falling into the river. After another km or so over some rocks, the walk turns into an easy walk on sandy ways along the river until you have the steep ascent back to the rim of the gorge and the Nature Window Lookout. Before heading back up, it is time to cool-down your foot in the river - not for too long, otherwise you are covered in flies, which are unfortunately very abundant on this walk and bother you from enjoying quietly the great views on the stone layers, flowers, cliffs, wildlife, etc.
After this long walk we were pretty hungry, but as in Kalbarri shops and cafes are either generally closed or only open a few days a week and then mostly without any vegetarian options, we prepared some veggie-halloumi-burgers. Stuart was very happy to assist with preparing the burgers and thought these burgers were very yummy. For the working hours in the afternoon some colorful birds joined us on their search for nest building material.
