Today is the long-awaited day. Dittmar has reached a new decade of life starting today.
Yesterday evening, I already prepared the small birthday table and put one of my dresses on top so that he doesn't mess it up during his nightly trips to the toilet.
At 8 o'clock, the alarm went off as usual and I immediately sang our birthday song and wished my super husband a happy birthday. Fran was the first to congratulate at midnight. It was only 6pm for her. Doris left a message on the voicemail at 5:45am, but the phone was on silent mode. Throughout the day, more and more well-wishers came in.
Today, Dittmar got to decide everything. We took the train to Luxembourg City. 25 minutes. It was very hot again. But still, we immersed ourselves in the city and enjoyed the view of the medieval fortifications from the most beautiful balcony in Europe. There is also a very well-preserved city wall built by the Romans. We took our first break in the courtyard of a small bar in the shade of this wall. We enjoyed delicious homemade cheesecake and cocktails. More than one alcoholic drink was not possible in this heat. But we toasted to the round number. 😉
We were not so interested in the upper town with its many shops and restaurants, so we took the train back to our accommodation to rest around 3pm.
In the evening, Dittmar chose a Chinese restaurant where pulled pork was supposed to be on the menu. The restaurant, called Han, was located in a small alley with other small bars and restaurants. We were the first guests at 6:30pm and ordered a Kir Royal. We were able to communicate well in German and ordered several courses to share. Unfortunately, the pulled pork was not available. As a replacement, we had caramelized ribs. It was a dream! 👌😋
We had a very nice evening all by ourselves. And turning 70 didn't hurt at all. 😉
