Tuesday starts off very relaxed. A small group took the initiative and participated in the tradition of playing hymns to wake everyone up. Then we have a hearty breakfast at the campsite before leaving at around 11:30. This time, we take a different route that leads us along a curvy road over the hills along the coast, offering an incredible panorama. Plenty of time to take many photos of this view.
Franz tells us a few things about San Francisco and the Bay Area before we stop at a viewpoint above the Golden Gate Bridge and take many photos in front of this famous backdrop. By the way, from there you can also see Alcatraz Island, where the world's most secure prison is located.
Then we continue over the bridge to San Francisco. At Pier 39, we have an hour to look around, watch the sea lions basking on wooden platforms in the harbor basin, enjoying the attention from people, grab a bite to eat, or buy some souvenirs.
At 4 p.m., we are picked up by the bus again and drive to the Bike House - the location for our performance in the evening. The Bike House is located directly on the Pacific Ocean, and our conductor has a perfect view of the sunset over the sea throughout the entire performance.
If we thought that the performance in the Old World was the best so far, we now have to revise this statement. Because both the location right by the sea and the fantastic atmosphere in the venue - which, by the way, offers beer from 10 different German beer brands - surpass it. The acoustics in the high-ceilinged space of the former military base are a bit more challenging to handle, but we deliver our best musical performance and finally receive plenty of applause for it.
After our two-hour performance, we get something to eat and once again find ourselves engaged in conversations with guests who are interested in our origin and the further course of our concert tour. Overall, there is once again only positive feedback, and you can feel that our performance is something special for the people here. Before we head back to the campsite, Jeff Burton, the founder of Electronic Arts, who has been friends with Franz for years, even gives a personal speech to us on the bus.
Back at the campsite, we have a small campfire and end the evening with cool drinks and relaxed conversations.
