<p><br /></p>The police checks, which were surprisingly frequent given the small number of law enforcement officers, were left behind with bribery (which probably explains their frequent occurrence), and we were happy when we arrived at the Oasis Beach Resort on January 10th.

<p><br /></p>Greeted with an outdoor gym, our African bungalow, and a beautiful hotel complex, our enthusiasm for our trip to Ghana grew, especially for Miri who had been reserved up until now. The fact that we often didn't have running water and bedbugs had chosen Miri's leg as their new home hardly affected our spirits. When both the toilet flush and the shower don't work in the morning, you get to know yourself in a whole new way...<p><br /></p>In the first few days, we had arranged a meeting with Edith and scheduled a visit to the Baobab Foundation for the following day (Edith is the founder of the Baobab Foundation where we will be working from January 24th. If you're interested, please check out the foundation's website). We got along very well with Edith right from the start, and the 'job interview' lasted for 3 hours. The distribution of conversation time was as follows: Edith 97%, Nico 2%, Miri 1%. Our visit to the foundation finally convinced us because everything made a great and authentic impression.<p>More about the Baobab Foundation in our next blog post.</p><p><br /></p>The remaining days here in Cape Coast were spent in a nice blend of relaxation, culture, and sports. The basketball project is particularly worth mentioning, as we raised almost €500 in just 2 days. Thank you for your support! The pictures and a short post will be available in the next update. And our visit to Cape Coast Castle is worth mentioning due to its cultural background. We were able to take part in a guided tour in which the inhumane conditions of African slaves became palpable in a repulsive way, further encouraging me to question and (r)evolutionize my human existence.<p><br /></p>We have extended our stay at Oasis by 2 nights and will continue to Komenda at the Ko Sa Beach Resort on January 18th.<p><br /></p>Here's a small spoiler for our entire trip: on February 24th, instead of originally planned, we will fly to Sri Lanka, on the Asian continent, from Kenya. Yey <p><br /></p>This week's riddle: In Ghana, 2019 was the 'Year of Return' in which many Ghanaian descent people from other countries returned here. Dear readers,

This entry will probably be a bit longer because a lot has happened in the last few days. We decided to take public transport from Winneba to Cape Coast and had a taxi driver take us to the 'bus station' where we got on a packed Trotro (Trotros are minibuses that transport locals from A to B for a small fee, around €2 for a 2-hour journey). Packed refers to both the number of passengers and the luggage, which was so generously carried that the trunk had to be tied.
