The second day in Hampton Bays we take it easy, with breakfast in the garden of our motel and a view of the boats and the sea - what more could you want...
Then we go to the western tip of the peninsula to Orient, passing miles of beaches to the very end of the island. Here we are in a state park with a beach, where Lucas and I walk along the beach and enjoy the wonderful weather, pleasant temperature, and the vastness.
We saw the most beautiful beach sections in East Marion!

Then we go back through the towns of Southold, Peconic, and Mattituck - we drive a little further to Quogue and do some sightseeing of the beach houses and beach clubs here. Dreamlike villas with direct access to the sea (compared to that, the Gold Coast pales in comparison!). Unfortunately, these cannot be photographed, 'Private Road' or well hidden behind fences..... but there are also great villas in the hinterland... here's just one example.
