Chapter 3.
This morning we went to La Guardia International Airport in Queens and then continued to Chicago O'Hare with United. The flight went smoothly, except for some turbulence, there's nothing to report... except Mara's suitcase didn't make it on the flight and was delivered to us later in the day.
We were spoiled with sunshine in the past days, but today in Chicago we were greeted with below freezing temperatures and snowstorms, which became quite heavy in the evening.
The highlight of the day was a game between the Chicago Bulls and the Milwaukee Bucks at the 23,000 spectator United Center.
The glorious days of the Bulls with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman are long gone... the current team unfortunately does not live up to the same level of performance (as a Dresdner, I know how that feels ;-).
I'm not a huge fan of US sports and I probably won't become one after tonight. It was a huge spectacle, undoubtedly entertaining. But at no point did it feel like the NBA game was the main attraction. Constant audience animations to create a certain noise level, games, free popcorn showers, and t-shirts for the audience, as well as photo games with the audience, were meant to excite the masses. Americans like that, but I prefer our RHS in Dresden. :-)
The drive back to our hosts and friends Julianna and Joe in Lemont was relaxed, despite the wild snowstorms.
Tomorrow we're going to Down Town Chicago.
