I still couldn't get over the sight of the impressive glacier as we continued our journey along the Icefields Parkway. Of course, the beauty of the surrounding landscape didn't stop. It's impossible to stop being amazed here. There is no break, the eyes only get bigger.
Along the way, we stopped at various viewpoints, lakes, or other points of interest. Many of these points would have offered great hiking opportunities. One day for this dream road is simply not enough. To do all the great hikes, you would need a few days. It's a shame that our time here is so limited, it's really beautiful here!
Our final stop was Bow Lake. There, we also had our extremely delicious dinner, which consisted of bread and canned meat. Not a feast, but the view made up for it!
Slowly it got late, the sun was setting, and we were slowly getting closer to our destination, Canmore. We also didn't choose accommodation directly in Banff for cost reasons. But Canmore was really not far away and our motel, the Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge, was really impressive. Looking back, it was the best motel we had on our road trip. The rooms were more like hotel rooms, very spacious and clean. And the view was also impressive, right in the middle of the Rockies, surrounded by towering mountains, which you had right in front of your nose with a quick look out the window. A beautiful accommodation for the end of an equally beautiful day!
But even the most beautiful days come to an end. We had great weather, beautiful landscapes, impressive glaciers, several bears... what can I say? The day could not have been more perfect, although a bit exhausting. It's incredible what you can experience in just one day. The Icefields Parkway truly deserves the title of one of the most beautiful roads in the world. I had so many wow moments in just one day! We were quite tired but very satisfied and could happily and dog-tired fall into bed. The next day was supposed to be a hiking day at Lake Louise, so we should better rest!
