... from Torgau to Lutherstadt Wittenberg (71km) on Wednesday, April 17, 2019
We started after a delicious and hearty breakfast around 9am, with the sun shining and pleasant temperatures.
I (Dorit) didn't have much motivation this morning. My butt and other body parts were protesting a little, but after the first 20 km, everything went smoothly again.
Unfortunately, the Elbe Cycle Path didn't follow the Elbe closely today. We rode on the left bank until Pretzsch and sometimes felt like we were zigzagging towards Hamburg.
It was very quiet along the way, and all the cyclists greeted each other politely, giving helpful advice and directions.
In Pretzsch, we took the car ferry to the right bank.
We had already covered 50 km and headed for the next beer garden.
Along the way, a deer crossed our path, and we also observed a clattering stork.
But we still had to conquer 6 km until we were rewarded with a delicious Flammkuchen and a refreshing Radler at the "Zum Anker" restaurant in Elster.
We were able to recharge our batteries without any problems.
In Elster, we enjoyed the glorious sunshine and a picturesque view of the Elbe.
After we had refreshed and rested, we tackled the last kilometers for today. The section between Elster and Lutherstadt Wittenberg was very pleasant to ride, and we arrived at our destination around 3pm.
Today, we also reached the 200 km mark!!! 👍😃
We quickly found accommodation near the market square and explored Lutherstadt in the afternoon. It is a beautiful city with many historic buildings and churches, and Luther's presence is everywhere.
Tomorrow, we will take it easy and only ride as far as Wörlitz to visit the world-famous park.
