The day started with a shared breakfast in the camper with our friends who picked us up in their rental car. Today’s agenda was packed with different activities.
The two guys had plans to go biking - Whistler Mountain Bike Park! Everyone was looking forward to this event 😅
The two of us women had plans to go hiking. Our destination: Blackcomb Mountain.
So, we started together with the guys and their two bikes at the Whistler Village Gondola and rode up to Whistler Mountain. The guys waved us goodbye as they headed to the trails, and we continued with the Peak2Peak Gondola up to Blackcomb Mountain. Then we began our planned circuit:
Through the Alpine Loop (1.4 km - 72 m elevation gain) over the Overlord Trail (3.7 km - 124 m elevation gain) to the Decker Loop, an Alpine Trail (3.3 km - 214 m elevation gain), and then back over the Overlord Trail. According to our recording, we covered about 8.5 km - 370 m elevation gain.
On the way, we had breathtaking views, nice encounters, and some wildlife sightings. Two marmots, plenty of squirrels, and a small rather intrusive bird that landed right on my backpack when we took a break.
Through the cloud cover, which luckily cleared up gradually, we could admire the Overlord Glacier. The Decker Loop Trail was quite steep and rocky, but the effort was definitely worth it.
We spent the afternoon downtown until the guys finished biking one by one, feeling satisfied. Flo had about 8 hours of biking behind him. For dinner, we drove back to the campground - there were spaghetti with tomato sauce for everyone. What a wonderful day! 🥰
