29.08.2019 sick?;Van conversion and work

Nai-publish: 29.08.2019

It's been almost 1 month here and something changes every week..

Mike's work schedule has changed, he now works 8 days then has 2 days off, works 8 days then has 3 days off, and so on. Luckily, Jenny's farmer agreed to the same schedule, so now we have more consecutive days off together :-). In 2 weeks, the schedule will change again.

On Jenny's farm, the first calves have been brought to the fields or transferred. She and her colleague Annett (who coincidentally is also from Germany but has been living here for 7 years) created a line using the vehicles to make a pathway for the calves. The calves are then fed in the field at a large feeder, as they were previously trained, as you can see in the pictures.

Today, on our day off, we didn't feel well... We were constantly cold and had headaches. We couldn't even work on the van at first and had to lie down.. In the afternoon, we managed to make some progress in the van and remove the basic structure, but then the headaches came back :-/ Since we didn't have to go shopping in Ashburton this week, we at least had a more relaxed day. In the evening, we were actually invited to Jenny's colleague's place, but we had to decline because we didn't feel well.

Otherwise, not much is new. We baked bread :-) and we'll have to observe Mike's wellbeing on his farm in the coming weeks. We're considering leaving in mid-October instead of early November, but we'll see how things look at the beginning of October or in the near future.
