Wednesday 02/08/23: Wednesday greets me with sunshine, although it's rather cool after the rainy day on Tuesday - perfect hiking weather! My feet are still fine, the muscle soreness is bearable, but unfortunately my knee is still swollen. Lacking excuses, I start from Bromberg in the ditch and make my way up to the hills, which take me through meadows and forests of the Bucklige Welt to Scheiblingkirchen. In the distance, you can see Semmering and Rax - my next destinations. The path is mostly asphalted country roads - beautiful views but no wild nature yet. The route is still poorly marked - but with the Bergfex app, that's not a problem. However, I have already taken the wrong turn several times, resulting in a few extra kilometers.
On the descent into the ditch to Scheiblingkirchen, my dear knee starts to bother me again - damn it!
When I reach the valley, I seriously consider whether I should break off the long-distance hike and spend a few relaxing days at Semmering instead.. Then I find a bus from Scheiblingkirchen to Haßbach - the place is on my route and cuts about 7km off - I take it! The remaining 9 km to the Ramswirt destination are then manageable on foot.
Summary: walked 10 km; drove 7 km; walked 9 km. Hiking is so awesome: you focus on the pain, sweat like crazy, and see many animals in the wild - like a brown-tailed bird and mole :-)
