About flying and arriving

Nai-publish: 08.10.2023

When you sit on a plane for 20 hours (just flight time), you think about what you can do in that long time: reading, listening to music, crocheting, watching films, solving puzzles and maybe a little bit sleep. And what did I do? I read maybe 3 pages and watched 2 movies and dozed for a total of 3 hours. What did I do the rest of the time? - Stared at the screen at where we were and kept shaking my head in disbelief that I was actually on my way to Australia.

There was then a 3 hour layover in Singapore. Finally get up and walk again! There are 4 terminals in the airport and it took me almost 20 minutes to go through one terminal. There are various koi ponds and a butterfly garden and a lot of expensive shops that look expensive from the outside.

Next we fly to Australia. "You've got the bigger flight behind you now. This one will be a piece of cake!" Well, I couldn't really believe that before we took off, but in the end it was the same. The almost 8 hours to Australia went by really quickly, even with a constantly tired and constantly screaming toddler next to me... And then came the big moment of seeing the lights of Brisbane - that was really a goosebumps moment and still the great disbelief, that I'm really there... Before landing there was a video from the Australian government warning not to bring any forbidden things with you or to declare everything truthfully, otherwise your visa will be revoked and you won't be allowed to enter the country... Accordingly, I was really scared before the customs check because I stated that I had medication (for more than 3 months), wooden products and hiking boots with me. The first check: “What medications do you have?” "I'll show them." "No, tell me...ah ok, bye". The second check: “Do you have hiking boots with you? Are they clean?” "Yes, they have a new sole, the old one fell off last week" "Ok. What wood products do you have?" "Hairbrush and crochet hooks" "Ok, bye" - That's it! No deportation and my visa is intact :).

Being picked up from the airport is really luxurious and you can almost turn your brain off straight away ;), it's now 8.30 p.m. Off to the apartment and into bed and jump straight into the new era...
