Can a day start more beautifully than with a view like in the first picture? I don't think so! At nine o'clock in the morning, the Emerald Coast greeted us with a pleasant 18 degrees Celsius... wonderful. Nadine took the opportunity to dip her feet in the Gulf of Mexico and said, "pretty cold" ... but still, a great day was about to begin.
The tour was supposed to take us to Pensacola today, or rather Gulf Breeze. Only 2 hours by car gave us plenty of time to look left and right. We also made a stop at Fort Walton and admired the snow-white beach. Nadine even found some great seashells.
We arrived at the hotel too early to check in, so we planned to drive directly across the bay to Pensacola and take a look around. At first, it wasn't easy to find the hotspot of Pensacola, but then suddenly... crowds of people... actually quite unusual after the last two years. And there it was. Mardi Gras was already being celebrated. Creatively decorated floats, from mayoral candidates to Irish pub, fire department, Sparta, and even a SWAT van, and everywhere there was good mood, loud music, and dancing people. Just as unexpected as it was for us, we are now even more excited about New Orleans.
We really liked the Mardi Gras here in Pensacola. In the end, we caught or received 84 bead necklaces, the people are very friendly, Nadine will probably be adopted by the Americans soon because everyone loves either her dress or her whole outfit or her piercings. People stop from driving cars or turn around, walk back to say "I Really like your Outfit" that's how the Americans are! I also like the rest of Nadine, just saying... hihi.
All in all, a really fantastic day. We stayed at the Quality Inn in Gulf Breeze, recommended by Robert & Ute, many thanks. Everything is very nice. Tomorrow we're heading back to the former capital of Louisiana, the city that now belongs to Alabama.
Best regards from the Panhandle
