Art or can it go away?

Nai-publish: 12.12.2016

That can definitely not go away! Even those who have no interest in oil on canvas or centuries-old shards of clay, will be thrilled by New York's museums. Here are my favorite works from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art.

I am completely blown away by what humanity has achieved in terms of beauty and wonder. With all kinds of materials, shapes, and expressions. There are either rituals, traditions, messages, or simply a sense of beauty behind it.

So where does this sudden urge to visit museums come from? A roommate in my Airbnb accommodation said that the left hemisphere of the brain is responsible for rational, analytical, and structured thinking. The right hemisphere is responsible for creativity, imagination, and the ornate aspects of our lives. Like most of us, my life is probably dominated by the rational side. How incredibly foolish, because as you can already guess, a balance would be much more beautiful.

Thinker or artist, what type of person are you?

In which direction does the dancer turn for you?

Clockwise -> you mainly use the right hemisphere of the brain

Counterclockwise -> you mainly use the left hemisphere of the brain

Conclusion Brooklyn: I really had great roommates in my Airbnb in Williamsburg. Creative, reflective people, but sometimes I just have to laugh. The girl spends one hour styling until everything is in place. The coat smells because it's vintage, the strap of the shoes breaks after 20m, surprisingly the window glasses with only one arm does not hold on the nose. And when I ask 'What did you do today?' I get the answer 'yeeaaah you know... I made a new friend today... yeaaah I was hanging out with this photographer kind of guy... yeaaah but it was fuuuun.' One must distinguish well, there are quite interesting 23-year-olds from whom you can learn a lot and there are people whose highly praised individualism comes across more like dressing up and searching for coolness.

Conclusion Manhattan: The city consumes you, constantly wakes up the feeling that you have to buy this and that, experience or achieve this and that. At the same time, it is impossible for a normal earner (1-room apartment for $ 6000, burger and milkshake for $ 22) Where is this leading? I am fascinated and repelled at the same time. The city completely defies my understanding, raises questions, and in my case only allows one conclusion: I don't need all this striving for consumption.

Off to Colombia.
