First full day as an AuPair 03.02.2020

What a day. So many new impressions today...

After a very pleasant night, I got up at 7 am this morning and brushed the kids' teeth, combed their hair, etc. I also came into contact with the phenomenon of school uniforms for the first time, but that was easily manageable. After that, we had breakfast and prepared the school bags and then we were on our way. The school is not very far from the house, so we walk there. Today the girls took their scooters with them, so we were relatively fast. It takes about 10 minutes and you can hardly miss the way because at least 300 other students of all ages take the same route. So I couldn't get lost. Yey;)

After dropping off the kids at school, we went back home to clean up the breakfast leftovers and tidy up in general. I also had some time to explore Orpington.

Shortly after 3 pm, we went back to school to pick up the kids again. It had rained a little, but otherwise everything was fine. When we arrived home, I gave them my host gift. It was a coloring book and card game from the new Frozen movie and a pair of earrings for each of them. Especially the coloring book was very well received. Until dinner, we were all busy with it and talked about our favorite characters.

During dinner, I learned what it means to be patient. Everything, and I mean everything, was more interesting to the kids than dinner. It took a total of almost 2 hours and a lot of nerves, but we made it. Finally...

Afterwards, we just got the kids ready for bed and played a round of cards with them, and then it was time for bed.

I am very happy with how the day went and especially that the kids seem to like me. After all, I've only been here since yesterday and they ask me about all sorts of things and want nothing more than to cuddle all day. That's a really good feeling and I hope it stays that way.
