Why Pucón is so beautiful

Julkaistu: 06.02.2019

Although I only stayed there for a few days, I can say that Pucón has become my favorite city. Very few small towns have the diversity that Pucón has.

On one hand, there are a tremendous number of tourist offerings in Pucón, with tourism agencies lining up to offer a wide variety of activities such as kayaking, canyoning, rafting, skydiving, and volcano tours. Sometimes it feels like there are more tourists than residents in this city, but I don't mind that because I enjoy the feeling of the whole world coming together in one place.

On the other hand, Pucón is surrounded by stunning landscapes, including crystal-clear lakes and rivers, some with gray-black beaches, volcanoes, national parks, forests, and Chilean jungles with waterfalls that are never overcrowded with people.

The residents are also a reason why you feel so at home in Pucón. They are all incredibly warm and open, so you quickly feel like part of a big community. In my short time there, I even made friends with the vendors and felt like I had known them my whole life.

Another special thing about Pucón is the cleanliness of the houses and streets, which are filled with beautiful boutiques, unique bars, and restaurants. Even at night, the streets of Pucón are very lively, as many shops don't close until 11pm, street artists like Michael Jackson doubles or pantomimes perform in some corners, and stylish and traditional live music is played in many restaurants until late at night. Pucón's nightclubs are also open every night.

During the day, you can see beautiful, sometimes artistic buildings as you walk through the city, or hear guitar players in the park. Personally, I didn't feel like it was one of the poorer cities, especially since I didn't see any beggars or homeless people.

Another reason why I liked Pucón is that you can find German street names everywhere (e.g. Holzapfel) or see shops with German names, like Kuchenhaus or Chocolatería Spezialitäten. As a German, it makes you feel like the town is trying to accommodate you.

In summary, I can only say that I really hope to come back to this city soon to experience its familial, diverse, and vibrant atmosphere once again.
