From the ocean to the pool

Julkaistu: 15.07.2023

First things first, today turned out differently than expected. It was one of those days. We had planned to spend the whole day at the beach, enjoying the glorious sunshine. And of course, as Germans do, we reserved our beach chairs. Although it wasn't really necessary in our case, as there are always enough chairs available. We had brought our beach bags down at 7:30 am, so Rainer just had to place them in the right spot.

Today, we had breakfast buffet again. Our breakfast consisted of pan-toasted bread, cucumber, watermelon, jam and butter, fried eggs, Balinese coffee, and watermelon juice. On the buffet table, there was also Bami Goreng, Nasi Goreng, honey, pancakes, fried bananas, mangoes, and potato rosti. But we didn't feel like eating that today. We have noticed that the way people eat in Bali is different. The food is not as hot and heavy, but rather light and low in salt. This suits us very well.

After we finished breakfast, we moved our chairs a few meters away and made ourselves comfortable. We took a little nap and enjoyed the sun. After a while, I wanted to go snorkeling, so I did. Rainer stayed on the beach chairs for a while and then came over with the snorkeling gear. Thankfully, he brought his camera this time. The fish and corals are not the same as when you go diving, but still amazing and exciting. It didn't feel like a long time, but Rainer eventually said that we must have been snorkeling for an hour. It was great. When we got back to the chairs, we both grabbed our headphones. Oh, it was so nice to listen to German music, German schlager, and German pop music. Maybe our beach neighbors watched us, but I didn't care. I tapped my feet and hands to the beat while lying on the chair. The sun was sizzling, life can be so beautiful.

Some time passed and we decided to go to the other part of the hotel. We packed our things and left the rest on the beach 🤣. The other area of the hotel was located above the street. It had more rooms than the lower area where we were staying. It had two pools, several lounging areas, and, most importantly, a pool bar. The bar was even open, so we decided to have a long "sit in" here. How awesome was that? We sat on a small wall in the water and ordered something tasty to drink from the bartender. It's a shame we didn't come up here sooner. But we also had a lot to do in the past days, or rather the past 2.5 weeks. It was wonderful, simply amazing and sensational. I had concerns about my leg at the beginning, but everything was fine and should continue to be. We also took a swim at some point. We spent almost 3 hours at the pool bar alone. Other guests started to arrive gradually. You could even have a meal there. I just asked the bartender and he said yes. We ordered some tapas and a delicious cocktail, with and without alcohol🍸. I would have loved to stay there, but we wanted to change in our room and then go out for dinner.

However, tiredness got the better of us. Both of us dozed off on the bed in the room and woke up after a little over an hour. We felt like doing anything but going somewhere. So today, we stayed in the hotel, both had red snapper for dinner, and talked about our wonderful day. Of course, we didn't forget our evening cigar.

We enjoyed this evening and were very grateful to be able to spend such a beautiful time here in Bali.
