Stranded in Kho Tao.... It was already dark when we arrived but the feeling was different right away, on the small island the holiday atmosphere came up and you could hear the geckos calling. I love gecko singing. We treated ourselves to a little more luxury here than usual and moved into a small bungalow where we didn't live alone upon arrival. In the bathroom, right next to the shower head, there was a huge spider waiting for us :( It, the monster, was really huuuuge, the biggest spider I have seen live so far (and hopefully it stays that way). :( Luckily, our receptionist removed it immediately and even though he said it's not poisonous and not that bad, I can't shake the feeling that he almost wet himself :D But I didn't care, the main thing is that it's gone.
We took it easy during the 6 days on Kho Tao, chilling at the beach every day, snorkeling a bit, and in the evenings, we always went for a massage :D They were the best massages in my whole life and I would have loved to take the masseuse home with me :D On the first day, we immediately rented a scooter that Ramona always drove and we were able to explore the island a bit. The roads here are really unbelievable, on the mountains, we always had to hope and worry that the scooter can handle it, some roads shouldn't even be called roads/paths and if an almost normal road happened to appear, we celebrated it.
On Friday, I flew to Krabi, where I met Kathi and Inacio, with whom I made a trip to Raily Beach. Arriving at Raily, we were initially very disappointed because the entire beach was littered, but luckily we quickly found a super beautiful long sandy beach on the other side that looked like it came straight out of a picture book. In the evening, we went together to the hostel where Inacio was staying to end the day with a beer and BBQ. Suddenly, I heard someone calling my name and there was Colin, whom I met in the Cameron Highlands. I was extremely happy about the random and unexpected reunion. Colin is such a lovable and incredibly funny person, and I was even more thrilled that he happened to stay in the same hostel and we spent the evening together in a big group.
The next morning, Kathi and I took a bus to Khao Sok, the ride was super chaotic and a complete mess, but we arrived :D The bus driver just dropped us off on the street in pouring rain because he didn't feel like driving to the bungalows... luckily, a completely crazy guy picked us up and took us to the bungalows... he was really crazy, seriously crazy, I didn't know whether to be scared or laugh... When he brought us to the bungalows in his minibus, which had a very very low roof, he intentionally drove into the potholes, constantly honked, and talked about his family, laughed like a crazy person, and kept turning around instead of looking at the road. He also mentioned that he's slightly crazy and burst into laughter again :D We wouldn't have noticed that he's slightly crazy without his remark, of course :D His eyes probably wouldn't have given it away either;) He probably collects grass from the jungle all the time and smokes it or takes something else... But at the same time, he seemed sympathetic and it was raining, so we still went with him. You simply have to experience the crazy guy :D The bungalows were in the middle of the jungle and it was pouring like buckets. A real monsoon like you know from the news. It rains here every day and that's why everything is incredibly lush and green. Equipped with a raincoat, the next day we hiked through the jungle on our own with a Dutch woman... We didn't see any big spiders, snakes, or anything like that, and even the wild elephants who live here didn't show up. We could only smell the elephant poop :D I was attacked by leeches 3 or 4 times, the first one was still quite cute but each additional one was annoying :( If the internet is better, I will upload a video of leech no.1. There are huge colorful butterflies flying around and beautiful fluffy caterpillars. Since it has been pouring rain day and night and that seems to be the normal condition, we left after 2 nights. I took the bus alone to Phuket and stayed in an airport hostel and flew to Bali the next day... Indonesia, my great love besides Otti <3
