On my first day in Chile, I gained a lot of new impressions and had to get used to my new environment.
Already at the airport, I noticed that Chileans are incredibly helpful and open-minded people who like to approach unknown people. Even my taxi driver and the hostel staff immediately broke the ice and constantly made jokes.
Something else that caught my attention: Santiago is very colorful. All the houses have a different color and there is street art and graffiti on every corner, which I find very beautiful and sometimes incredibly creative.
And not to forget: the language. Admittedly, at first I understood hardly anything when Chileans talked to each other. Sometimes I didn't even notice that it's Spanish. This is because on the one hand, they speak very fast and on the other hand, they sometimes use different words than in Castellano and also omit individual letters or words. However, when Chileans talk to me and notice that I don't understand everything, they usually speak a little slower so that I can understand them better.
