The temple complex of the now flooded island of Philae is located on the island of Agilkia.
The main building of the temple complex is the Temple of the Goddess Isis. It is located on the west bank, roughly in the middle of the island. Around it are other smaller structures, such as the Kiosk of Nectanebo I, the Trajan Kiosk, the small Temple of the Goddess Hathor, the Temple of Imhotep, and more temples.
Here too, one entered the temple complex through a portal between towering pylons.
Many of the images have been destroyed when the old faith was being eradicated as pagan. The traces of destruction can easily be seen on the large statues.
I particularly liked the different column shapes: Lotus column, Papyrus column, etc. They were easy to recognize and distinguish after the tour guide explained it.
During the subsequent felucca ride on the Nile, there was another completely different angle to admire the temples.
This was my favorite motif:Somewhat predictably:
The traditional boat had no engine and relied solely on the wind. Of course, the wind completely died down on the way back. Fortunately, there were other boats nearby that could tow us back to the shore.
After the boat ride on the Nile, we continued to the Aswan Dam. The construction itself is impressive, both technically and in size. The thought of how many temples, tombs, etc. have probably been lost in it made me sad.
