Leave the hotel at 9:00 am. Drive through the city center to the E40 / M10 towards the Polish border. My god, the roads in Lviv are so bad that I'm afraid for my enduro. Maybe BMW tested it here for a few months before releasing the model on the market...
At the border with Poland, 70 km past Lviv, it's already 28°C at 10:30 am. Great! When I drive to the Baltic Sea, it's usually 16°C and raining, when I drive to border crossings, it's around 30°C and the sun is relentless. At least in this summer. At 1:30 pm, with temperatures at 34°C (in black motorcycle gear), I'm allowed to enter Poland.
On the Polish side, the highway is immediately 4-lane and built according to the finest EU standards. For miles there are wildlife fences and noise barriers, wildlife crossings, endless guardrails, huge rest areas, and all bridges are prepared for 6 lanes. Awesome. Almost 300 km of tedium. Doesn't matter, I still want to get to Krakow today.
Now I'm starting to miss home. I've seen so much that I need a break. Slowly but surely... all the hotels are starting to get on my nerves. At my age, one longs for stability ;-).
