From Bangkok, we continued by plane to the southern part of Phuket, but first we had to take an adventurous train ride to the airport. What can we say, the trains here are a bit older and they shake and squeak everywhere. After a 50-minute ride, we finally arrived at the airport, and all for only 13 cents per person. As the weather in Phuket was a bit worse, we had to make a little detour during our landing approach before we were allowed to land. After we got our backpacks, we were taken to the hotel in the southern part of the island by a minivan. We spent the rest of the evening having dinner and drinks.
The first real day here in Phuket unfortunately started very rainy, but it finally stopped shortly after noon and we took a little walk on the beach and through the city. Then we jumped into the pool and a short time later into the sea, which were both very warm. In the evening, we had a delicious Thai dinner and the crowning glory was a really tasty ice cream.
Tomorrow we will continue to the island of Ko Phi Phi by speedboat, where hopefully there will be better weather and clearer sea for snorkeling.
