Oops, a few days have passed since the last blog post. Since then, we have actually been to the beach again! There is a public training time here every Tuesday that anyone can come to if they want. We arrived a little early and found 2 Germans to play a few sets with. You really realize how much you miss it when you start playing! Anyway, we played until it got dark.

The day before yesterday, we went on a tour to the Daintree Rainforest. Basti had redeemed his birthday voucher for that. We started at 7 o'clock in the morning from Cairns towards Port Douglas to pick up a few more travelers. From there, we went to Mossman Gorge. A waterfall with a natural pool. Since it is indigenous land, we had to participate in a smoking ceremony beforehand to protect us from evil animals. We danced around the fire and the Aboriginal sang a song. Then we went to the waterfall. Two out of three of us dared to get in despite the temperatures. Once inside, it wasn't so bad anymore. The next stop was the River Cruise on the Daintree River. This time not on a kayak because there are many crocodiles there. And guess what! We saw 4 of them! The largest one was almost 5m long. Accompanied by creepy crocodile stories, we also saw the most dangerous python in the world. After the cruise, we headed to the lunch location. On the way, we saw a cassowary with its little one 🤗 so cute they look... with one kick, they can break your spine. We had delicious burgers for lunch and Basti had curry. And oh my.. what's hanging there? Two hand-sized fat spiders 😱 luckily not dangerous. After that, we continued to Cape Tribulation. On the way, we did a short bushwalk. Our guide showed us many tricks and tips on how to survive in the rainforest. That was really exciting! And then we had a breathtaking view. From the thickets of the rainforest, we suddenly found ourselves on an incredibly beautiful beach. So beautiful!! After Cape Trib, we slowly made our way back.

Yesterday, a canyoning tour was actually planned. Unfortunately, it was canceled due to high water levels and postponed to Monday for now. We are curious to see what happens.

Today, we are doing a waterfall tour on our own. As it often rains in the rainforest, there are thousands of waterfalls here. Pictures will follow!
