Hello dear ones,
this morning we got up early to take part in a tour of the rainforest and three different national parks. Our first stop was at Lake Eacham, which is a lake in a volcanic crater. Just a month ago, a freshwater crocodile was sighted here, which was abandoned by an overwhelmed owner. However, it is harmless as long as you don't get too close to it, so swimming in the lake is still allowed. The water is relatively warm and surrounded by beautiful rainforest. There we also had a breakfast of fruits and muffins.
After a refreshing break, we continued to the first waterfall, Dinner Falls. It wasn't very high, but still beautiful to look at. We also had the opportunity to swim there. In order to take a nice photo, we climbed over the slippery rocks, and Maren gracefully lost her balance and landed on her butt, luckily she didn't get hurt.
After that, we continued to the Millaa Millaa Falls. It was much higher and more spectacular, but also much colder. However, that didn't stop us from jumping into the water and swimming through the waterfall, which was pretty cool.
The last stop were the Josefine Falls, which were definitely the most beautiful. The waterfall flows over three platforms and we could even slide down from the last one. For this fun, we had to demonstrate our climbing skills in a daring way, as we had to overcome large rocks. This time everything went well, luckily. After the beautiful experience, we were given a small snack consisting of cake, cookies, and TimTam as a conclusion. TimTam is a typical and very popular Australian candy, which we tried for the first time today, and what can we say - it won't be so easy to pass it up on our next shopping trip.
See you soon, Maren and Sarah
