11.1. & 12.1.2018 Hello Laos

Argitaratu: 12.01.2018

17.30 o'clock, we arrive in Luang Prabang by plane. In a skirt, shorts, and flip flops. As soon as we get off the plane, we realize how cold it is here in Laos. Can you believe it's only about 15°.

Since we need Laotian money, we head to the nearest ATM and withdraw our first million. We've always wanted to do that :-) Then we quickly get a taxi ticket and off we go to the Cold River guesthouse. It is located at 01/05 Ban Meunna and it's about a 10-minute walk to the city center.

We are warmly welcomed by the owner and one of her employees and they assure us that the weather should get warmer in the next few days. We settle into our room with a balcony and put on warmer clothes. Then we walk towards the city and find a small restaurant where we have a noodle soup that warms us up from the inside. We are really charmed by this Luang Prabang. There are lights and lanterns hanging from the trees everywhere, and soft music is playing from every bar.

Back in the room, we quickly crawl under the blanket because it's too cold in the room to sit around. During the night, we get another blanket - one is not enough. It's now only 7°.

After a warm shower and well bundled up, we enjoy breakfast on the veranda in the morning. There is a wide selection and we decide on scrambled eggs, with baguettes, butter, and jam. The baguette is fresh and still warm. The American sitting at our table gives us valuable information about our onward journey through Laos and Cambodia.

We use the day to explore the city on foot and discover many small shops and cafes. In the afternoon, we are back in the room and plan the next few days here in Luang Prabang. Tomorrow we will rent a scooter. This way we are independent and can explore the surroundings of Luang Prabang. The Kuang Si Waterfalls are highly recommended to us, where you can relax and, if the weather permits, swim as well.

We are excited to see what adventures await us here in Laos in the next few days. Unfortunately, I cannot upload any more photos at the moment because the internet is very bad.
