In Germany it is now 4:45 AM, in LA it is 7:45 PM - we have been awake for over 24 hours now but what can I say - the arrival.
The short flight to Frankfurt went quickly and without complications, the connection to the big A380 to LA also worked great. 12 hours of flying are boring and stressful after a certain number of hours. Although it wasn't actually cramped, knees kept landing in my back, I watched 4 movies and of course didn't sleep.
From exiting the plane to reaching the car rental center it only took an hour - Since we already entered the USA with our passports, we were allowed to directly submit our fingerprints at one of the many machines and after waiting in a neat line hand them over to an officer. Just now I can already say that the people on the west coast are much friendlier than those on the east coast.
To make it short - everything went smoothly today. There was nothing that didn't work today.
Surely Hetz wanted to sell us insurance again, which I of course declined. The red sports car was directly assigned to us and we greeted it warmly. We quickly found the hotel with the iPhone. Locking it caused us headaches as the driver's door remained open after unlocking it. As Uli just found out, we were standing too close to the car when pressing the lock button. What would we do without the internet?
Then we already got provisions for the road trip starting tomorrow and had a 'small snack' at Denny's. Most of it remained on the plates though. The view outside onto the palm tree was nice and 'all' cashiers inquired about our stay here in the USA with all calmness.
The vacation can now begin. The text from today as well as the pictures are still very boring (and not even taken with the big camera). That's how it is with vacations. You always have to get there first. Before I write more nonsense after being awake for 24 hours, I'll just say 'Good night from LA'.
