University starts

Argitaratu: 31.07.2016

Monday, 25.07:

This week the university starts, but for me it starts on Wednesday. However, there was free burrito (filled tortillas with chicken, beans, salad,..) at the university today, so we naturally made a detour there.

After that, I moved into my new room.

After I came from the sea after dropping off my luggage and shopping, we sat together in the shared flat and chatted. The Taiwanese gave me a Taiwanese dessert after dinner (see picture top left). It was like a kind of puff pastry with something sweet. It was quite delicious. :-)
Then I retreated to my room and unpacked my backpack. In the meantime, I had my first phone call with my family at home.
Since I wanted to congratulate Papa on Face-Time, I had to wait until Sandra came home during lunch break. I was really jealous because they had Kassler and Spätzla... *yammi*

Tuesday, 26.07.:

Today we went to the university again and opened a printing account for the lecture scripts. Today was also the registration day for various clubs, where we signed up for the yoga club and the surf club. It's still not certain whether the surf club will work out, that depends on the number of participants.
After I became aware of another free room that I like better than the current one and would pay the same amount for, I went and checked out the room. It's just one street over and the room has a bigger bed and is generally a nicer room. So I decided to take the room and started searching for a new tenant for my old room. That's not a problem at all here and someone was immediately found who wants to look at the room tomorrow.

Wednesday, 27.07.:

After I tidied up my room and the room inspection was successful, I went to the university - my first lecture started at 6 p.m. It was the biggest horror for me. Thank goodness, there was another German in the lecture with me who saw it the same way... I couldn't follow the lecture at all and the professor was not exactly friendly. It scared me more than it encouraged me.. After I finally came out of the lecture at 9 o'clock, I went straight out and met some people to celebrate, so I got distracted right away. ;-)
After I fell into bed at 3 o'clock, I was afraid of how the lectures would go the next day..

Thursday, 28.07.:
On this morning, I decided to change the course from the previous day.
I attended my second lecture at 5 o'clock, fortunately it went better than the first one.
The lecture ended at 7 o'clock and I made my way home.
Once I got home, I quickly ate something and then had my first Skype conversation with Maria at half past nine :-)
After the long conversation at 12 o'clock, it was time for me to go to bed!

Friday, 29.07.:
So, today I had lectures from 10 o'clock to 3 o'clock.
These two courses today went much better than the first course.
After the lecture, I met Nici to go shopping because tonight there is a 'Back-to-School-Party' at the university. We pre-glowed and had a BBQ.
You have to get used to the sausages here... they don't look very appetizing, but when they are fried they are not that bad.

After the university party, we went to 'MelbasClub' until half past three.

Saturday, 30.07.:
Today it was time to SLEEP IN!!!
After we were somewhat awake around 12 noon, but Nici was still a bit sick, Caro and I went to the pool.
At 3 o'clock we went out and bought pencils, notebooks, folders,... for the university and we met up with Nici at 4 o'clock in the tram.
Today was Miami Market (Food Market). It takes place every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night.

It might even be that Nici and I will soon be working at a booth and preparing nachos (see picture). We should send the application (here the application consists only of the CV) by email tomorrow.

At 9 o'clock I had a Skype date with Laura :-)

Sunday, 31.07.:
After I sent the application, we went to the beach.
From 5:30 - 7 o'clock we watched a cheerleader competition.

And other miscellaneous things ;-)
My schedule:
I only have seminar (SEM) and workshop (WSP) every other week.
What's great here is that the professors record the lectures and we can listen to the audio file online as many times as we want... So the free Monday and Tuesday are no longer free days for me...
In my opinion, the learning system here is also very effective, because unlike in Germany, the final exam counts between 40-50%. the other 50-60% comes from weekly tests, essays, discussions, and an exam after the half-semester.
So I have no choice but to do pre- and post-work... In Germany, I always plan to do that, but it hasn't really worked out yet.. *oops* ;-)
I'm curious if I can do it here.

My location where I live :-)
10 minutes walk to the beach

These are my notes from this week! :-) THANKS!!

See you next week!! :-)
