Gekås Ullared, 07/08/2017

Argitaratu: 08.08.2017

All night long it stormed and winded, causing the outer walls of the tent to regularly crash against the inner walls and keep me awake. So, the next morning we left the campsite, still in need of sleep, as we had big plans for today. Literally big: a visit to the largest shopping center in Europe called "Gekås". What we actually found there blew us away. Even the parking lot resembled a multi-story labyrinth. Although there must be shopping carts available there, all the stands were empty. Now one might think that this city-like shopping house is a tourist attraction - but the opposite is true. Shopping-crazy ladies and gentlemen come from all over southern Norway, southern Sweden, and Denmark to shop. Gekås advertises that they have everything in their assortment that fits in a car. And indeed, there is everything you could ever desire, consistently in car-friendly size. Well, in VW bus size, to be exact. So we made our way through the aisles and were constantly amazed. However, our attention was partly focused on the women in the clothing department, who aggressively went for the shirts and panties. Including the occasional check against the barriers, of course. In the end, we were greeted by a staggering total of 67 cash registers, each one occupied and with a line in front of it. Without exception, everyone pushed at least one full shopping cart out of the hall. Outside, people collectively fortified themselves with fast food and recovered from the strenuous shopping tour. By the way, the men occupied the majority of the benches here. We also headed straight for a burger restaurant because we were clearly experiencing low blood sugar. This could not end well. After the meal, we felt rejuvenated, lifted our acquisitions into the car, and headed for the last campsite of our Scandinavia trip in Malmö. There, we set up the tent idyllically under apple trees and ended the day with a sunset at the water with a view of the Öresund Bridge.

Der Blick auf die Öresundbrücke ist sagenhaft! Was überwiegt denn: Heimweh oder Abschiedsschmerz?
