In Kutaisi we were able to meet friends from Germany with whom we will be traveling together for the next two weeks. The joy was of course huge when we were able to hug each other again eleven weeks after we said goodbye.
But it also means taking up a different rhythm. On the one hand, we are traveling by car again, because sitting six of us and our luggage in a free seat in the already full dolmuş is not a particularly reliable form of travel, and on the other hand, our friends, of course, want as much as they can, given their time constraints due to the two-week autumn holidays possible to see from Georgia.
But otherwise, six people are obviously more willing to compromise than two people: Are two meals a day enough or do we need three? Can we leave extra early tomorrow or do most people want to sleep in? Ethnological museum, wine cellar or day hike?
In the end, it's not that important to do or see this or that. It's just nice to watch the sunset together again with a good bottle of Georgian wine (or, for Kathleen, the traditional style) and discuss the big and small questions in life.
ps We were sometimes accused of only posting pictures of sunshine and blue skies. The last time we had rainy weather was around 7 weeks ago in the Ukrainian Carpathians.
