28.03. Steep streets, wild animals

Argitaratu: 28.03.2018

The morning city tour through Dunedin felt like a mountain hike, always steep up and down. That's why the steepest street in the world according to the Guinness Book can only be found here.

Dunedin is a student city, a cool scene, with everything that comes with it like theater, street art, pubs, and more. However, everything is currently revolving around Ed Sheeran, who will be giving a concert here on Thursday.

In the late afternoon, we explored the wildlife of the Otego Peninsula on a guided tour (with 'Elm Wildlife Tours'). The royal albatrosses were a bit lazy today when it came to flying. Only a few took off from the local colony.

The visit to a seal colony was very cute, with almost only seal babies present. The rock pools serve as a kindergarten when the seal mothers go in search of food.

Fortunately, we also encountered a few yellow-eyed penguins, the rarest penguin species of all.

Standing face to face with sea lions on the beach was a real highlight. It's very special to be able to get so close to the animals, as we did on this tour...
