Day 8 (2016) Abu Dhabi: Saadiyat Island

Day 8: Saadiyat Island & Yas Marina

In the morning, we set off to Saadiyat Island to go to Kai Beach. We found it so cool last year, we definitely have to go back this year! As we leave at around 10 o'clock, it actually starts raining. What??? Rain??? Thankfully, it only remains a few drops. Today it is quite hazy and windy, so we probably won't be sweating too much at the beach.

At Kai Beach, we treat ourselves to 2 loungers and an umbrella (the kids play in the sand or in the water anyway) and make ourselves comfortable. It's not crowded and even though the sun almost disappeared at noon, the sea shines in a beautiful turquoise color. It's just beautiful here!

We stay until the afternoon and enjoy our chill day at the beach. After that, we make a detour to Yas Marina, where the kids continue to splash around in the water fountain. Unfortunately, there are a lot of mosquitoes here at sunset, which attack and bite me. Annoying insects! So watching it is not quite as relaxing, as I have to wave the towel around since the bug spray is naturally in the suitcase...

In the evening, we leave the kids at home. The "nanny" takes loving care of the three of them, prepares their dinner and puts them to bed (well, our own kids are already 8 and 12 years old, a bit older than my 1.5-year-old godchild 😊).

With my cousin and husband, we have a fancy dinner at the 5***** Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi.

Afterwards, we explore the surrounding area and treat ourselves to a cocktail at the bar.
