Camptour 21st + 22nd part: Lillooet + from Lillooet to Whistler

Argitaratu: 13.06.2018

In Lillooet, we didn't have a reservation and first went to the campground that I had found on the internet. One look was enough for us to turn around immediately. The place looked very strange. But a few kilometers before, we had seen another campground and now went back to that one. The descent to the campground was quite tight and steep and at first glance not suitable for caravans, but somehow we managed to get there and so we could park right by the river. Lillooet is one of the driest places in Canada with an annual rainfall of only 260mm! Accordingly, the landscape looks desert-like and the temperatures are already high for this time of year. Unfortunately, the river, which is quite rapid and muddy due to the snowmelt, did not invite us to go swimming. There are also many trees floating in the water, which makes staying in and on the water very dangerous.

Just a few kilometers past Lillooet, the landscape changes again from a desert landscape to green forest. The mountain peaks were snow-covered again. On this stretch, we saw deciduous trees instead of conifers for the first time in a long time, which was a nice change of scenery.
