Since it's still a holiday here in Montenegro, we decided to drive to the Dumitor Mountains to escape the hustle and bustle of the beaches and lakes.
Before we hit the long panoramic route, let's quickly grab some fuel... wow, what a gem we found.
2 x main dishes... beans and goulash 😋 delicious. -
On our way to Pluzine, a quick stop at Ostrog Monastery, one of the most important monasteries of the Serbian Orthodox Church. We patiently line up to visit the monastery, and suddenly find ourselves in a small crypt where a priest sits in front of a coffin and blesses the believers 😳... after the blessing, the believers kiss something in the coffin 😱... we look at each other briefly and leave the crypt before it's our turn. /
Past Pluzine, we continue on a section of panoramic route 2... slowly we wind our way through carved tunnels in the rock, narrow winding roads, diverse landscapes, and breathtaking views. We can't stop marveling, just moments ago we were in the sun by the lake, and now the mountains of Dumitor are laughing at us. Hard to believe, there's still snow here. ☃️ .
Just as Beate asks me if the snow overhangs on the side of the road simply melt away or if they just fall onto the road... it happens 15 km before our destination... the road is closed. That means we have to turn back and drive 150 km around the mountain 🏔
A little tired but full of amazing impressions, we arrive in Zablijak and simply look forward to our bed. And what can I say, the hosts here also welcome us with all their warmth 💗.
