We started our honeymoon this year in early October in the enchanting New York, a city that captures the hearts of many people, including ours. It wasn't our first visit to the city, but it was the most beautiful one. We treated ourselves to the impressive Waldorf Astoria hotel, one of the most famous and luxurious hotels in the city. Our honeymoon suite was a dream and the hotel staff was very friendly. The Waldorf Astoria is the perfect place to spend a beautiful honeymoon, and even just visiting the lobby is worth it as part of a trip to New York.
One highlight of our stay was attending the opera 'Tristan and Isolde' by Wagner at the Metropolitan Opera, also known as the 'Met'. Apart from the fact that the performance fascinated us, it is an incredible experience to enter one of the world's leading opera houses with its impressive decor, making it an absolute must-do on a trip to New York.
For those who have been to New York before, it is obvious that a visit to Central Park, a trip to the Empire State Building, and other famous top attractions are a part of the city trip. However, we would like to highlight another personal highlight of our honeymoon, which is often not mentioned by many people: a visit to the Bronx Zoo.
So, on our last day, we took an Uber ride to the Bronx. The Uber driver seemed a bit surprised by our desire to go to the social hotspot of the city until he realized that we were only going to the zoo, which is regularly visited by many New Yorkers. On the way there, we did see a bit of the different side of New York, but we were dropped off right in front of the heavily guarded zoo.
Inside the zoo, we discovered an incredible variety of species, had a very nice day, and even witnessed a little altercation between two grizzly bears :)
The timing of our trip was perfect because it is usually still warm in New York in early October.
Overall, it was a perfect trip to the Big Apple, which we would love to repeat soon.
Yours, Claudia and Peter
