Dune de Pilat

The Dune de Pilat near Arcachon is the highest sand dune in Europe.

The ascent is unexpectedly difficult. Our feet sink very far into the sand and progress is very slow because we keep sliding back. Only Markus manages to reach the top. What an effort...super exhausting...we put Schnuffi in the bus, this is not for the little dog and not for Fraulein either. There is also a wooden path up, where you don't sink and you can walk up easily. Much better!

The dune is over 100 meters high and stretches for almost 3 km. The sand is very light and fine. Once you reach the top, there is an incredibly beautiful view. Absolutely stunning here!!!
