Alqueva Reservoir

Inland, near the Spanish border, lies the Alqueva Reservoir. The largest reservoir in Europe, a village had to be relocated when the reservoir was flooded. The residents were given a new village called Luz. We love the hilly landscape with the old cork oaks. The newly created lake landscape is very extensive. There is still a lot of traditional farming here. Unfortunately, the weather is getting worse and the mosquitos are bothering us... we continue towards the coast.
