Day 22 from Smolari to Yavornista in Bulgaria

Day 22, from Smolari across the border to Bulgaria and onwards to Yavornista in Bulgaria.

This morning we left at around 9am. First, about 4 km on the asphalt road through a village, then we took a shortcut through fields and meadows to the border village of Novo Konjarevo. Now there were only about 1500 meters left to the Bulgarian border. At the border, we had to go through a shower🚿 (chlorine), which is actually designed for cars, to not bring any diseases into Europe 😷! After the border, we continued along the asphalt road to the village of Yavornista where we had booked rooms. Along the way, there were grapes, apples, tomatoes, and for Willi, another peach.

(Willi) My first impression of Bulgaria: less trash. I estimate that in North Macedonia, at least 98% of the trash ends up in nature. If every Macedonian collects 1 garbage bag of trash per day, then North Macedonia could be trash-free in 5 years.
