Week 35 - Happy New Year!

We wish you a happy new year.
We spent New Year's Eve in the city. There was a free event with a live band and fireworks.

We met up with a few people we know from work. While we were there, we also ran into Nils by chance, who we also know from Gisborne.
We had a lovely evening and a good start to the new year. The fireworks were a bit smaller than expected, but we appreciated that there were no private fireworks.

Michelle and Nils accepted our invitation and we spent Saturday afternoon/evening at our place.

One afternoon we spent in the city. We really liked the downtown area. There was a strong earthquake over 10 years ago that destroyed almost the entire city. Therefore, the downtown is quite new and modern. For example, the cathedral has not been rebuilt yet.

We are really enjoying our time in a stable home and just hanging out a lot.

For some exercise, we went to Mount Vernon, which is right outside our door, and after a 1-hour climb, you reach the top.
