4 - Back in Darwin

Published: 16.03.2018

Back in Darwin, it was time to stay indoors, or rather on the covered terrace.

Because it still rains a lot here at the end of the rainy season in the Northern Territory.

The next day didn't look much better... quickly returned the car and then went on a day trip to the "Crocosaurus Cove", the local reptile house.

There was a lot to see there, you could even experience a real movie star live!

Burt, famous from Crocodile Dundee! Incredible!

The snake and lizard house also impressed with live encounters, and a small snake and a big lizard quickly found their way onto my arm.

The sun also showed itself again and I was even able to stroll along Mindil Beach and admire shells.

So the only things missing from my list of things to do in Darwin are the supply tunnels (remnants from the last world war) and the art museum.

But unfortunately, that won't happen for now, as I'll be heading towards Humpty Doo in the next few days.

I've actually managed to get a job on a banana farm, and I have to start working on Sunday.

I was able to enjoy my last day of freedom to the fullest, as I went cliff jumping at "Old Quarry" with a few people from the hostel.

Two jumping spots into sky-blue water in the Queen's territory, strictly forbidden to enter!

But it doesn't bother anyone, so it doesn't bother us either, straight into the water.

The first jump from about 5m and thus the lower one doesn't disappoint.

The water is refreshing and there is beer and watermelon.

At dusk, we go to Palmerston, where I stock up on everything I need for the next few weeks.

Boots, work pants, long wool socks, sun hat, and more.

I'm already excited like a kid on Christmas Eve!

It's supposed to be one of the most exhausting jobs here, or at least that's what they told me in the hostel..
