Thanks to a very unmotivated border officer, our entry into the USA went smoothly. Since we had some issues with our car since Alaska, we went straight to our first highlight.
Yellowstone National Park: famous for its geysers, hot springs, and wildlife. Without expectations, we planned a day for the park and were overwhelmed. It's incredible what nature can create! Since the national park is at 2,000 meters and it was already below 5 degrees at night, we had to continue our journey.
Unexpectedly, we had to drive for days (3,000 kilometers) through a desert (prairie) at 40 degrees without air conditioning, which our vehicle did not like. The service light came on, an unexplained noise matched the current mood, and forced breaks to cool down the engine were on the agenda.
Next stop: Niagara Falls
Surprisingly, a famous film location was on our way. Mount Rushmore. $20 for parking and thousands of tourists were still worth it.
And again, we had to drive through the prairie for several days.
After another smooth border crossing, we were back in Canada and visited Niagara Falls. We took a boat directly to the waterfalls. One of the most unforgettable experiences so far!
Afterwards, we visited a friend in Ontario and sightseeing in Toronto.
Having enough of the hustle and bustle, we continued heading east.
Next stop: Cape Breton
