.... through a bike tour. Upon our return, we were - considering the 33°C in the shade - 'like fish out of water', but it was still very informative and beautiful.

Our excursion was a guided bike tour organized by our hotel. However, we had the guide Patrick 'all to ourselves', as no one else was crazy enough to do sports in these temperatures.

The ride to Mahebourg took us past sugar plantations to an old, large, and very impressive baobab tree.

The town and the region around Mahebourg are - compared to other regions of Mauritius - still strongly traditional and not very touristy developed.

First, we visited the waterfront promenade of Mahebourg before heading to the market. Fresh vegetables, fruits, and a bit of street food characterize this market. After that, we went to the 'fishing harbor' of Mahebourg, which is only used by small and tiny traditional boats. Then we headed to the only more tourist-oriented village in the Mahebourg region, the Blue Bay .... the name says it all. Along the way, we frequently had views of Lion Mountain, which shapes the silhouette of Mahebourg.

By the way, we learned all of this from our guide Patrick, who has lived and worked in Mahebourg since birth.

Ihr seid ja - um es freundlich zu sagen - ein wenig verrückt, bei diesen Temperaturen Rad zu fahren.
