🌳 ☀️ 💦
The first day starts early, at 5 am I wake up and read about what's going on here. An idea comes to me quickly - grab some fruit and a smoothie and drive to the village of Mata...

April 13th, 2022, after little sleep we set off. Our flight to Ericeira is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
The Christmas present "a trip to Lüneburg" is being exchanged for Portugal. I fell in love with the beautiful little town of Ericeira in January... and suggested going there.
The flight takes about 3.5 hours, a time that today - for whatever reason - seems unbearably long to me 😞.
It also takes a long time at the car rental. But then our red Fiat zooms away. Ready for the 278383 roundabouts, there is a shortage of traffic lights, but there is always in and out of the circle. Playing bingo with the word "roundabout" would be worth considering.
The journey - we take the country road instead of the highway - takes us through ups and downs, and the navigation system is sometimes confused. Are we already in Angola or San Francisco? Judging by the street names, we are.
After about 1.5 hours we have made it and landed in Ericeira, the charming fishing village about 40km from Lisboa.
We check in. Our room with kitchenette is really nice, the building is huge. We unpack briefly, then want to go down to the beach... only 900m.
But first we have to get out of the house, and it is more difficult than expected, it takes us about 10 minutes, then I write to Nelson. He leads us out of our establishment via WhatsApp👀.
At this point, I would like to quote my mother: "why are you taking a scarf and a hat with you?".
I look at her bewildered: "Uh, maybe because it's April and we're at the Atlantic in the mecca for surfers?". She's not interested in my three reasons - it's also evening. Outside, she feels the truthfulness of my words, even though the sun is shining, it's windy and cool. I'm warm, she's not. She takes the opportunity to question her selection of clothing she brought with her - including a swimsuit.
Nevertheless, we enjoy the beauty of the coast!
And on the way back, we buy pizza to take home 🏠.
