Soooo, since Chiang Mai is the epicenter for elephants, we decided to go on a day trip where there is definitely no elephant riding involved and they also had good reviews that they treat the animals well. I know it is still controversial because they still live in captivity and are supposed to be there for us, whether they want to or not, but I really wanted to go there because so many others have already talked about how great it was.
So our day trip included a little rafting tour and a small jungle hike to a waterfall, and in the afternoon we went to the elephant location. First, we mixed up a babble that was called medicine but was just a wheat-rice-banana mix :D With the mix, we first fed the elephants and then there were only tons of bananas, which the elephants were really crazy about.
Then there was a little elephant baby, which was soooo cute. But still not quite trained :D Once it came running towards me and pushed me with its head and I ran away screaming. Then I somehow stumbled over my own feet and did a nice stunt :D Then everyone, including me of course, laughed out loud. But after that, I avoided the little one ;)
Anyway, it was a really nice day and it was really cool to see the elephants up close, feed them and pet/bathe them. I also had the impression that the elephants are being treated well and that they are doing quite well there. It was a great experience and that's why I went a bit overboard with the photos again ;)
