110 km north of Caldera is the beautiful Pan de Azucar National Park. We drove there with a couple from Santiago. 🚗 Unfortunately, the weather was not very good - a bit of rain, windy, and no sun - but it was still worth the trip.
We walked to a viewpoint - Mirador - and saw extremely beautiful white beaches. This national park is home to many different plants and animals. However, the animals did not show themselves (except for a fox, birds, and pelicans) - who would in this weather?! 🤨
There is the possibility to take a fishing boat to Pan de Azucar Island, but due to the wind and rain, it was not worth it for us. The Humboldt penguins live on this island. 🐧
On the way back to Caldera, we made a stop at extraordinary rocks.
