Grand Island Tour with Jack and Henry

Published: 21.03.2020

Hey friends!

our day started today with the alarm clock ringing at 7:00 a.m. We freshened up and had a quick breakfast. Then we went to the ABC Store and stocked up on snacks for the day.

After that, we stood at the bus stop and were picked up by Jack, Henry, and the rest of the group shortly after eight o'clock. Mareike and I participated in a 'Grand Island Tour' on Oahu today to explore the island.

We were originally supposed to visit 18 locations. However, about half of them were closed due to the coronavirus. 🥺

We visited various lookouts and beaches where we could observe turtles, swim, and go snorkeling. We also drove around the entire island, allowing us to see the beautiful landscape of Oahu. We also stopped at a coffee plantation where our bus said goodbye and we had to wait for over an hour for a new one. However, this was not too bad as we had delicious coffee and beautiful weather. 😌

For lunch, we went to a shrimp shack, ordered our food there, and then went to the beach to eat it. 🙂

Afterwards, we continued driving and passed the location where Jurassic Park was filmed. Then we stopped at a beach where the Hawaiian Monk Seals were lying and enjoying the sun. The animals look like seals, but much larger and slightly wider.

Throughout the day, we had snacks (chips and cookies), we were given new water bottles as often as we wanted, and we even received a cap and a t-shirt with the logo of Nuri Tours, the company we were traveling with today. 🤩

In the afternoon, we arrived back at the hostel and decided to go to the beach again. We spent the late afternoon there.

Afterwards, we took a shower and then went to the beach with Manu and Philipp to watch the sunset. 🌅

In the evening, the four of us sat on the rooftop terrace of our hostel and had a few beers. 🍻

Best regards from Oahu, Hawaii 🇺🇲🌺
