6 degrees and rain - Welcome to Patagonia. We are celebrating Christmas in the tranquil Coyhaique, which is considered a major city by local standards. But let's start from the beginning. From Puerto Montt, we traveled to Hornopiren in beautiful weather, and then took a boat to Galeta Gonzalo. It was a beautiful journey with wonderful weather. We hiked in Pumalin Park for a day. Then the rain caught up with us and we continued to Chaiten. From here, we had to take another boat because there was a landslide that blocked the road. It was really bad, with at least 15 dead and an entire village had to be evacuated.
We then took another 12 hours boat ride, with very rough seas, allowing it to rock us to sleep.
So far, the rest of the journey has been simply spectacular. Even though we froze at times, I wouldn't want to miss a single view.
We send you warm Christmas greetings from home and thank you for your kind emails and messages, which accompany us on our journey 😗
