Chaclacayo - a bit of idyll in Lima

Published: 13.11.2017

A little outside the city center of Lima is the district of Chaclacayo, which offers an idyllic small-town atmosphere with nature and beautiful weather. The sun always shines here and the climate is particularly dry, even in winter!

There are many beautiful small and large houses with expansive gardens in the narrow streets near a river.

Together with my host family, I visited their house in Chaclacayo and was especially fascinated by the diverse garden, in which many different plants grow despite the extremely dry soil: the typical Peruvian Chirimoya, avocados, onions, mangoes, cocoa, pineapples, sweet potatoes, and much more.

Asparagus plants
A small cocoa tree

Most of the fruits on the trees are not ripe yet, but in a few months there will be a lot to harvest here. Impressive what nature has to offer!

Small mangoes on the tree
This will become a pomegranate!
And soon pineapples will grow here.

And a few animal inhabitants also call this place home:

Always with me!
A few animal inhabitants are hiding there...

On the way home, I also took some 100% organic eggs along with some great photos:
