Alcatraz

This morning we visited "Japantown", which was unfortunately not a great experience, but the tram ride there was appreciated as the children got to stand and lean out from the tram.

In the afternoon, we visited Alcatraz. The guided tour through headphones was excellent and something all four of us enjoyed. The sound effects and voice recordings gave us a vivid sense of what it was like in the prison back in the day. We also met a former inmate and had the chance to ask him questions. He had been imprisoned in various jails but escaped, which led him to Alcatraz.

The evening concluded at the pier with a view of the sea lions.
